If you are a traveler who loves the Caribbean, then you need to visit Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The first thing you will realize when planning a trip to Punta Cana is there are many resorts to choose from. The number of resorts to choose from can become a daunting task. My recommendation is the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar resort. The Bahia Principe has several options from adults-only to families. If you want an all-adult experience stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar. And if your budget allows then upgrade your room to one of the rooms with its own private pool. The staff at the Bahia Principe is very friendly and caters to your every need. There are several restaurants at the resort in which you must make reservations. Now if you can’t get a reservation at any of the restaurants, the main restaurant is very good and especially the food from the grill. The food from the grill gives you more of a taste of what the locals eat.

Now that you have your accommodations taken care of now it’s time to plan your excursions.  You can wait until you arrive in Punta Cana and plan your excursions at the resort.  But I prefer to plan my activities before my arrival.  I planned all my excursions beforehand on Tripadvisor (tripadvisor.com).  There are several excursions you can choose from.  You can choose from whole-day or half-day excursions.  Everyone is different but I prefer half a day in the morning to all day or an afternoon excursion.  The reason I prefer morning excursions is because I prefer to get the excursion done so I can spend the remaining of the day at the resort by the pool or relaxing on the beach. No matter how you book your excursion from Tripadvisor or at the resort on your arrival, you will be picked up at the resort by the tour company on the day of your excursion. 

My first excursion was the ATV, Water Cave, and Dominican Culture tour. This tour had adventure and an element of cultural enrichment. You ride an ATV throughout the countryside down dirt roads so prepare to get a little dirty or much if it happens to rain the day of your tour. But don’t let a little dirt stop you from doing this tour. You will have a great time! In addition to riding an ATV, you will visit a community center where you will learn how they make coffee and cocoa in the Dominican Republic. The adventure continues because this tour takes you to a Water Cave. The water in the cave is 20 feet deep but it is so clear that you can see the rocks at the bottom. Because the water is so clear it doesn’t look as deep as it is. And best of all you can jump into the cave and the water is very refreshing. The tour ends at a local beach.

My next excursion was Lux Coral Nursery Snorkeling- Lobster Fest tour. If you love snorkeling, you will love this tour. You will go out on a boat into the Caribbean Sea for some great snorkeling led by an instructor. The fish and coral reefs are beautiful. Besides snorkeling, you will have a lobster feast for lunch. This tour operator will contact you before the tour on what you will like with your lobster. For me, I had the surf and turf which was very good. After lunch, you will then go off to a sand bar for some swimming. And all drinks are included in this tour.

My last excursion was ziplining. This tour was through Ziplines Adventures. The staff at Ziplines Adventures were all about safety. They strapped all the zipliners into the zipliner gear and did a tutorial to make sure everyone knew the rules to remain safe before the start. Ziplining was such an adrenaline rush. You will have so much fun ziplining and the views are great while you ziplining from tree to tree.

Now you can’t go to Punta Cana and not check out the beach. And most of all the resorts have beach chairs by the beach so you can relax and enjoy the breeze from the water. Unfortunately, the beach had a lot of seaweed. Now if you prefer the pool over the beach, Bahia Principe Luxury pool scene is very lively. No matter if you choose the beach or the pool, the resort has a beach bar and pool bar where you can drink all the Bahama Mamas you like or any other assortments of drinks.

Punta Cana is a nice Caribbean Island that has an array of activities that will keep you entertained with great food and people. Make Punta Cana your next Caribbean getaway and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
